“Shabby Shack”

I don’t think I’ve officially introduced my Shabby on my blog yet.

This here is my Vintage 1968 Fleetwing Camper named “Shabby Shack”

(Yes I name all my campers and I am not alone in doing this! Check out my Sister’s campers on the SOTF site.)   Some call these a Canned Ham or a Tiny Travel Trailer but I call them Pure Cuteness!

Camp Taylor 2012

I found Shabby on Craigslist. On a whim.

Her outside is original but I plan on changing her up a bit this summer.

This was when we were pulling her home from Baltimore.

We stopped at The Turkey Hill Experience to break up the trip.

Her inside has been totally redone.

Inside Shabby

This is my little dollhouse.

Us Sisters have a few mottos and one of them is “Making Girls Out of Women.”  When I’m in Shabby I feel like a little girl playing house. I have all the conveniences of home except for one thing… A bathroom. I’m still young so it hasn’t really become an issue yet. When it does, it’ll be time for a shack with those utilities.   Everything in Shabby has been a found item that I purchased for really cheap while junkin or thrifting or it was given to me from special friends and Sisters.

I have a few campers but this one is girls only! I take my only daughter on trips in this one. Shabby is our toy. The girl says her favorite part about camping in Shabby is waking up in the morning to the smell of Shabby, the quiet sounds and her and I being together. I’ve come to believe that alone time with each of your children is very important, especially when you have 6.

Here is my girl on the bunk in Shabby.

I can’t wait till spring weather so I can open her up and sit with some coffee and my iPad and just enjoy the quiet in the mornings and also have my friends over, cause Shabby is always ready for a visit with my friends.

As you can see, Shabby makes me very happy!

She’s my escape, my refuge from all that is wrong, my hiding place.

Thanks for visiting with my Shabby Shack!

Mobile Boutiques

I’ve made some new friends ….

…completely across the country. Long distance relationships can work! YES!

I was doing some research for a Mobile Boutique business that I hope to start up real soon. Hopefully it’s possible in my area and hopefully I find some friends that maybe would want to join me in a new venture. Hopefully everything falls in place. Hopefully, hopefully….

While researching I stumbled onto my new friend’s site called Carovana. This was exciting yet crushing for me to find this because I earlier had just been choosing names for my 1970 Sprite caravan. I knew her name was to be “Clara” and eventually I came to “Claravan” for the mobile shop. I had pretty much settled on this name but then in searching other names I came across one that already existed called “Carovana“.

I contacted Kimberly, who owns Carovana, to inquire about her business, of which I found out that she and her pose were pioneers in her area just a few months before and they’re now going strong with 6 mobile shops in their gathering.

This actually gives me more hope to get mine started here in my east coast area. Hopefully!

Kimberly also assured me that she wouldn’t mind at all if I use the name Claravana even though her name was so close.

She’s way out in WA, she says, so it shouldn’t be confusing. Thanks Kimberly! You’re a Gem!

The girls have a collective committee called Walla Walla Valley Mobile Boutiques where they meet together and plan events. They each own their own business in their campers and work together to make it work, as to give more choices to the shopper. They each have a FB page and advertise as their own business but in general they are one.

You can visit them all here….

I just love this concept. Small business helping small business.

Anyhoo, I talked more with Kimberly and it turns out we have a ton in common. For one we’re the same age and also both our boys are in the USAF and both of them are Crew Chiefs. Turns out also that our boys were both at Basic at the same time. (4 wks overlapping) How cool is that??!!! Turns out too that I will be visiting her in WA this summer to go Glamping with all the girls.

Already got my tickets to fly!!  Soooo excited to meet my new friends!!!

Here are some shots of their most recent shopping event in WA.

(Thanks for allowing me to show your photos girls.)

I can not wait until Clara is finished and I can HOPEFULLY do this as well!

Would anyone like to join me in this new venture?

Shabby is Blog Worthy

Blog Hoppin…

In Sept of 2012 I joined with my Sisters on the Fly Sisters to display a few of our campers at the Country Living Fair in Columbus, OH. All weekend we had our campers on display for all the visitors to take a peek and get an idea of what we do and how we set up our campers when we go glamping with SOTF.

A  Sister friend on Facebook pointed me to a blog that featured our campers at the Country Living Fair 2012. It’s so fun when you see photos of yours and your friend’s sweet campers. After all, we display to show them off and share the love!

Myrtle and May
wrote about her time at CLF and how she enjoyed seeing our campers. You can see her photos from her link.

Melody, Sister #2649 (1st photo below) took all of these photos. She is one of my Sisters who attended the show with us. She lives near the fairgrounds unlike most of us other Sisters who traveled 8-10 hrs to get there.  Hi Melody!!!!! Oh, BTW, Melody is actually in that Glamping book AND I KNOW HER!!!

Vintage Bliss also wrote about her visit but sadly I hadn’t arrived yet to the fair and didn’t have my Shabby open.

Thanks girls for featuring us Sisters and our trailers!
